Biography
K. Smith (Kendrick Smith) born in May of 1976 to the Rev. SL and Erma Smith. The son of a well known pastor, he played the drums for The Greater St. Mark Christian Church, which was founded by and is currently under the leadership of his father. With his faith, he knew that he could achieve everything he wanted to do in the music industry as a singer, songwriter and musician.
Writing poetry was a great love for him, but his greatest gift was to compose poems into songs and perform them. At the age of nineteen, he realized that he needed to write for the world and get involved in the music industry. He felt that the message within his songs needed to be heard by the world, to change confused minds to help heal wounds and to develop a new lyrical content in music.
Music is the gateway into the minds of people. His lyrics are different because he meditates and explores each and every word that he uses in his songs, which allows him to deliver a strong message. The opportunity to expand his gift has been a blessing for him and continues to be a blessing upon others.
In May 2004, he performed live on the soundtrack for the independent film Just the Two of Us. In 2003, he opened on the BET College Tour. He also worked on the sound track for a movie titled The Blood of a Hustler. Last Year, he concluded a summer jam showcase series in Atlanta, GA at the Omni Hotel, ENDENU, and Café 290 with Purple Haze Promotions & One Nation Promotions as part of a concert series and after party events for Omega Media.
He performs with his own high energy 9 piece band and 4 background singers. As well as performing his own original music, he also performs cover songs of other artists such as his idol and mentor Rev. AL Green and Noah Jones.
